There is no question that the 9/11 first responders were screwed over.

1. Anyone in construction can tell you that dust and debris from demolition pretty much anywhere is toxic and prolonged exposure will f*ck you up pretty badly.
2 No effort was made to convey this information to first responders.
3. Afterwards, when the predictable health problems started, these people were tossed aside like used toilet paper. The funds that were set up to help them had requirements so strict that very few of them got any help at all. It was basically for show. Far too many have died as a direct result of those health problems.
4. It was so bad that Michael Moore took a handful of them to Cuba where they were greeted as the heroes that they were and received free medical care.

What I believe is some big government to cover up the dangers faced by these people. I'm sorry, I'm just not convinced.

It is heinous, an affront to anyone with a sense of decency that those brave first-responders and volunteers by lied to about the dangers of exposure, and even worse that their illnesses go untreated or under-treated.
