Re: Near-Death Experiences Explained?I have high regards for Mr. Stephen Hawkings, but when he talks about God he's talking out his arse like the rest of us.
Re: Near-Death Experiences Explained?Hypothetically even if they were able to replicate a near death experience, I don't think that would prove that the NDE is a purely physiological experience. All it would show is that the trigger for these experiences is physical, but we already knew that, as death itself is a physical change. It wouldn't actually prove or disprove the validity of the experience itself.
This is why I tend to laugh when a materialist tries to make their case that the NDE isn't real because certain aspects of that NDE can be replicated by something other than death.

Re: Near-Death Experiences Explained?NDEs have a lot more subtle elements than many people think. They include the not ready message, shown predictions of the future, shown a chronological life review that starts at birth, life changing effects(the problem that most explanations don't work against), xenoglossy, . If you want to test, for example, "lack of oxygen", you should put a control group of people without oxygen and put an experimental group of people with actual NDEs. Make sure that the people do not know anything about NDEs. Afterhand, check on the effects of both groups.
More evidence is here: http://www.near-death.com/science/research/science.html and here: http://www.near-death.com/science/evidence.html I doubt that people who say that experts on quantum physics say that this is purely a woo know much about quantum physics themselves. Furthermore, they are making that claim without evidence in first place.
