Anyone interested in an off-topic board? Are any of you interested in an "off-topic" board for topics that are non-paranormal and non-conspiracy related? If several are interested, we can create one.

Re: Anyone interested in an off-topic board?I think that the idea of an off-topic board has merit.
Among other things it would serve as a Sub-Forum for the discussion of interesting news stories and public issues and also a place to post humourous anecdotes, jokes and cartoons. It might also provide a "free-for-all" section where angry Forumites can duke it out with each other without derailing other threads. Should such a Sub-Forum be created, I would like to suggest that it be as lightly moderated as possible with only those posts liable to bring the Forum owner into possible conflict with the law being deleted. An off-topic zone has the potential to be fun for the membership so if there is enough support, why not?
Re: Anyone interested in an off-topic board?Yes I think an off-topic board would be fun and open up the topic range a bit more. In general, I feel that there should be at least three interested members before I create a new board, to warrant its creation.
I don't think the off-topic board should be open to flame wars though. Forums that allow that usually have a Flame War board for such things. But then the forum becomes a gutter and damages the quality of the forum and website. This is supposed to be a quality oriented forum, not one that should bring out the worst in people. At this point, the JREF board seems to have enough mudslinging of its own. No need for more. Insults and ad homineum attacks shouldn't be encouraged. Nothing good comes out of them, for either side. “Devotion to the truth is the hallmark of morality; there is no greater, nobler, more heroic form of devotion than the act of a man who assumes the responsibility of thinking.” - Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged
Re: Anyone interested in an off-topic board?Alright I guess that's two interested so far. Add me, and that makes three. So we will create the off topic board soon then
