Did the Business Plot actually succeed?

For those of you who don't know about the Business Plot to take over the US government:

People always assume it failed. How do we know it didn't succeed? The US government sure wouldn't be any different if it had succeeded!

How do we know they didn't pull an Atlas Shrugged and threatened to crash the economy if they didn't get control, like the banks recently did? Maybe that's even where Ayn Rand got the idea.

How did it fail? The US is a corporatocracy. Ever see the movie "The Network"? It's very eloquent and there are clips of it on YouTube. It was featured in Zeitgeist too.

Supposedly there is an alliance at the highest levels of corporations and government, but even higher up are the banking elite and Illuminati (network of secret societies). Some say there is an even higher up at the very top of the pyramid, perhaps the all seeing eye of Lucifer (which you see on the back of the dollar bill) which might be the devil himself?
