Okay... so I'm doing a project on acupuncture and qigong (pronounced chi kung) and have just come across an interesting paper on qi (ki) that has come out of the USA.
The authors claim that ‘Ki’ is not a paranormal or parapsychological phenomenon, but a natural phenomenon (whether most scientists would agree is debatable). The authors studied ki generated by the Nishino Breathing Method.
However, one of the study's keywords is 'Ki as an infrared laser radiation'. And it is this that made me think of the Russian guy who JREF pseudoskeptics think is using an infrared laser hidden up his sleeve (or chemicals) to burn paper and melt cups across the room (5min 30sec, 18min & 51min 45sec into this video: http://rutube.ru/tracks/879291.html?v=a ... 94ec68d7d6)
Here is the paper: http://ecam.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/reprint/6/3/379 (click Begin manual download). Any thoughts? Or do people think Ohnishi and Ohnishi are "magicians" too?
