Age has a whole lot to do with it, since it defines the maximum amount of experience and perspective one can possibly have in a given field. What often look like major revelations and ground breaking "gee whiz" events during the first five or tens years one pursues a subject very often resolve into "ho hum" known dead ends when you have been at it for 30 or 40 years.

Makes no difference how bright or informed one is, experience and perspective trump both in the long run.

Now that is an interesting assertion. If, as you contend, the western world has been deeply mind controlled for decades, then those with only a few decades of experience will lack the contrasting background, and that mind control will be largely "water to a fish". That is to say, accepted as the normal state of things and fade invisibly into the general milieu.

As an example, I grew up long enough ago to have begun doing engineering with a slipstick and paper and pencil. Hand any new college grad a slide rule and tell them it's their computer, and watch the blank stares. Another example is the evolution J. A. Hynek went through in his stance regarding ufos. Without the breadth of experience that comes only with time there are important nuances and considerations that remain "water to a fish", invisible as part of the reflexively accepted "normal" background.

I did a bit of quick googling to see if there was anything of merit that could confirm these claims. I found nothing other than individuals making more claims.

I get what you guys are saying, I to get discouraged when I get that "sense" that these paranormal researchers want my money and charge outrageous prices. This is true with the JREF and Richard Dawkins websites to promoting DVDs, books, t-shirts ETC. These frickin prices are ridculous, I respect it when they have free downloadable e-books, atleast lose that sense of being duped or ripped off.
