Actually, if they were flattering to me, I'd have to wonder about myself. Insults from them are like compliments, and vice versa. Remember we live in a bizarro upside down world where truth is censored, and the sane are labeled as insane for not going along with the insane majority.

Ok, both views are correct; there is a lot of "truth" out there that we aren't allowed to know as well as perspectives we simply don't need to have access to. Then again, there is a hell of a lot of truth that's come to the fore over the past century alone that many simply don't want to accept; they live with a dogmatic mind-set that says "I'm right and everyone that don't agree with it is wrong" which, unfortunately, has resulted in a great deal of social-political strife in this nation (particularly) in that no one wants to be told that their "beliefs" are wrong

I (most of us) do not need to know how certain technology works or even where it evolved from; we don't NEED to know it because it does not apply to our life, our work or our sense of purpose in the world. Because we WANT to know certain things and believe we deserve access to that knowledge "just because", some of us instantly conclude that some sort of evil, covert naughtiness is afoot -- the government or big corporations are playing a pea & shell game on us. . . which they may in fact do from time to time, they aren't 100% innocent when it comes to things but more than not, they are simply following the logical rules and keeping information that could prove a potential "problem" on a "Need to Know" level of clearance. I should probably point out that this is a tactic taught to first year Business School students as well; you keep your concepts, related resources & research close to the vest, trusting no one (including your development team). Truth is, some of the most sophisticated security systems you'll ever encounter AREN'T government or military but corporate; especially in the motion picture and toy/game development arenas.

Truths we "Don't Want to Accept" on the other hand, run a somewhat wide range of perspective; everything from Evolution vs. Creationism to the variety of things categorized as Paranormal. We can even toss in the myopic views now set in the American political system via which a massive social chasm has been made that is literally ripping the nation apart; preventing our elected employees from actually focusing on the greater issues and obsessing over selfish, petty factors the majority of which involve religious influences that are, by law, not permitted as a matter of direct legal or governing influence in this nation. . . but I think that only applies to anything non-White Anglo-Saxon Protestant and generally bigoted -- justifying their venom and aggression on the cornerstone of PROVEN fable. But here too we find the very thing Winston is yelling about -- censoring the "truth" -- the "church" being one of the biggest LIARS ever invented; a duplicitous entity that preys on humanity, governing (managing) the masses by way of fear manipulation on behalf of the political authorities... this is a huge can of worms when it comes to "the Truth" -- what's allowed to be known and what is deliberately suppressed.

The bottom line is, "the truth" is elusive and likewise "fluid" -- facts on the other hand, while a fickleness can exist, they are difficult to argue and in some instances, just as difficult to digest -- the latter is on our back however, we have the onus of having to investigate what's presented and contrast it with what we think we know about something. Only after deep HONEST contemplation are we able to make an HONEST decision of acceptance or rejection. We must remember however, once we've glimpsed knowledge of this sort there is no returning it to the can and no longer know it. That means that a time may come in which we gain exceptional clarity and understanding of that idea we once rejected; this is what is meant as "Enlightenment" -- Gnosis!

BALANCE. . . I say this all the time and here is an instance in which it needs to be seen again; Winston is not balancing the farrago but rather, allows it to blind and even bind him. Until he (any of us) can bring balance to such chaos -- the conflict that comes from multiple contrasts on a given issue -- peace as well as "wisdom" is not obtainable; we will lack the confidence or "conviction" of our very soul when it comes to sharing our actual UNDERSTANDING of an issue, just a one-sided and quite limited opinion.

There's an old axiom that goes something like, Seek and ye shall find; knock, and it will be opened unto you. . . if we do not apply ourselves towards learning "the truth" that is actually important and applicable to life, we cannot grow nor function in the world. If we do not ask questions and knock on the door of knowledge, we fail! It is when we challenge the things we THINK we know that we actually start learning.

Hope that makes some sort of sense.
