As for me, I think that the subject title speaks volumes. Doctors are not pharmacists so they are not expected to know (everything) about the drugs they prescribe. It's nice if they take the time to do the reading but many don't. I never start a prescription unless I've done some simple reading on the internet and I use that available information to formulate my questions for my pharmacist. I believe it's saved me many a negative reaction and on at least two times, possible death.
