With repect to Victor he is wrong the afterlife can be so unimaginably beautiful that the mortal mind could not comprehend it.I know this because unlike him I have had one very profound NDE and just last year a lesser one due to total heart block.

The Skeptic/Atheist wakes up in the exact same place as a believer, I have read many account of the huge suprise by these people to suddely realise they have been wrong all their lives and one really lives on after death.

Jehovah Witnesses who also say that there is no afterlife and the body and soul are the same thing, get a huge shock when they wake up in some heavely realm after death, proving their theology wrong.

God is not religious and views some of humanities silly religious practices with humor. Yes God has a sense of humor and he is also the primordial music maker

Sounds way too much like orthodox religion: "Believe in what I tell you or you'll go to purgatory, or Hell."

Closed-minded pseudoskeptics though Randi, Shermer and Wiseman may be, these are highly intelligent guys. They would pretty quickly work out what had happened to them, and are smart enough to realise that their best course of action would be to admit they were wrong - pronto.

(Shermer would probably have the least trouble with this, because he was a Christian Fundamentalist before being "saved" by Materialism.)

And why does Mr. Zammitt suggest that the pseudoskeptics' "purgatory" state "could last thousands of years"? Don't most near-death experiences and mediumistic channellings speak of the next world as having a totally timeless quality?

And - if Randi & Co. "would have trouble picking up their car keys because their hand would pass through the table" - how come they're standing in the floor?

I think Mr. Zammitt has been watching too many re-runs of that old 1990 movie with Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore!

It's like what I've heard several times from some proponents that some ghosts get confused and stay that way for a very long time. Unless something happens to their consciousness that traps them in a state a confusion, I can't imagine the confusion lasting more than a fairly brief time - from perhaps a few seconds to a few hours. Especially if they remember what was happening before they died.

If a ghost is purported to stay in a confused state for years then we have to presume that some outside force is keeping them in a state of confusion. Perhaps as some kind of punishement. But if its just figuring things out, I can't see how it would take that long.
