Serious Question, Cancer Alternatives

16 Jul 2012, 23:28

I've read that alternative treatments are highly suppressed in America. I also saw an unGodly list of so called alternatives being called untrue. But, this is a sensitive issue and I believe there might be a grain of truth in the alternatives such as a healthier diet and vitamins, quitting bad habits, thinking clearer. I'm very scared cause my dad might have it. He's done all this, and doesn't want to see a doctor and the dentist found a bump in his mouth, maybe due to chewing tobacco. He quit chewing and smoking. Is this ok? Should I convince him to see a doctor? He may have had a biopsy, he told me in tears basically, to explain why he was stressed out for no reason. He has never been a person to see a doctor and always waited the absolute last minute. I dont know what they said cause he's on a diet and basically keeping a downlow on it to everyone, and my brother not not even know I think he mentioned something? My brother didn't seem too worried so he may not have told him the whole story.

I am open to the idea that mainstream treatment is needed too. If anyone has insightful thought on this please let me know...

But the visions of him being treated haven't gone away which makes me panic that this is late term treatment, and that he should do this immediately...so...and then there's the spiritual side...the reason I kinda knew ahead of time. I think he is afraid of the treatment not working, and so is avoiding it...

If this is a serious question then the answer is: yes, your father should go see a doctor. Without delay.

I'm with Arouet on this one.

There are plenty of medical maladies that can be treated effectively with alternative methods but in this sort of case, going to a qualified specialist ASAP should be the first course of action. IMO, anyone considering any alternative methods can discuss them with a doctor but you can't take your healthcare into your own hands.

I know how you feel. My mom had cancer.
Alternative medicine isn't suppressed. You can search the internet and see all manner of claimed alternative cures. Caution should be exercise when considering these alternatives because all of them have not been confirmed to cure cancers. If they had they would be used for treating cancer and not be called alternative. If your dad has cancer his best chance for beating it is proven treatments.

Steve Jobs believed very much believed in the effectiveness of alternative cures etc.
