The Scientific Evidence for Psychic Ability

I've seen a few forum posts here that question the viability of the scientific evidence for the existence of psychic ability.

Most people have no idea what that evidence is, so I'm sharing a couple of my blog posts that deal with this subject:

As a skeptic and a critquer, I agree with your conclusion about the scientific evidence for psi phenomena; however, I am yet to look for evidence of life after death, reincarnation, mediumship, astrology etc...

The best evidence for mediumship is Gary Schwarz's The Afterlife Experiments. It's a good book available from the library.

I'm fairly sure Ice Ages just hasn't looked at it yet. You're right. There is a LOT of evidence.

Carl Sagan wasn't saying he believe Stevenson's conclusions. But like a good skeptic, he said it merited further investigation. I don't have the book handy but I think you cut the quotation short.

The Stevenson stuff is just so hard to deal with. I've read some of it, and the stories tend to leave me with more questions than answers. I haven't read the books in detail and want to at some point, but don't know when I'll get to it. These are complex psychological issues. I thnk there should be more research. Unfortunately, from google searching, there doesn't seem to be much critical review of Stevenson's work. There's been some attempts at going back and meeting the people, but Stevenson doesn't seem to have gathered much attention outsdie the parapsychological community. Even from skeptics. There's a couple book reviews but not much else.

Ok. What are your objections to the testing? I was not at all convinced by Hyman. I found his critique bombastic and more importantly, Schwartz pointed out that it was riddled with errors. But this study was also unique, so there is definitely room for error.
