Check out this YouTube channel by a Western monk in Sri Lanka. He answers a lot of difficult questions from the Buddhist perspective, and is very fair and balanced in his answers. You can also see a calm serenity on his face and even emotionless voice, which is typical of a devout Buddhist practitioner. For anyone interested in applying Buddhist concepts to life, this channel will be very helpful to you. There are videos covering all aspects of life.

I live in a town rife with Buddhist Monks (Tibetan) with somewhat regular visits by His Holiness. It's almost requisite for living in the area.

Here is an interesting video the monk did where he compares the pros and cons of living in a modern technological society vs. a primitive tribal one, and how a Buddhist practitioner should approach both. His comparison is very interesting. He notes how tribal life has far less stress than city life, and concludes that the most important thing is to avoid unwholesomeness.

I read many books on Buddhism. I have had to consider the various daily and periodic events of the Buddhist calendar and retain here only those items which can be practiced by lay Buddhists without access to bhikkhus.

Check out this great film called "Little Buddha" starring Keanu Reeves as the Buddha. It's from the 1990's and is a great introduction to the story of the Buddha.
