if there's nothing to it .........

then WHY have the military of both the US and RUSSIA been spending money on it ?? - i talk of paranormal things of course - such as telekinesis - remote viewing etc - and what of the interesting comment that some aspects "don't fit our purposes " ??

this may be of interest http://foia.abovetopsecret.com/ultimate_UFO/UFO_GOVT/of_Interest/paranormal_briefing.pdf

consultants cost money

and yea it will be easy for the skeptics to say ah but it was dismissed , but do we have proof of this ?? - or of course that the document is "fake" - but is it ??

so at some stage some credence was given to investigating paranormal things by 2 of the major governments of the world ( at that time ) - i wonder if the work was concluded or if it still continues - may be some thing WAS found that proved useful - and the big skeptic movement in the US and else where is an effort to cover up ongoing work ?? ( oops - nearly slipped in to CT mode there - naughty brett'y    )

The link doesn't show up for me.

Here are some simple reasons:
1. Testing it is cheap - not building jets or aircraft carriers or missiles
2. Why not test it - it may be nothing or it may not

Another issue is why it is tested over time. Some reasons for long term testing.
1. Just because results are poor at first doe snot mean that skills can be improved over time
2. Once a bureaucracy is created it is tedious to remove especially if it is cheap
3. A lack of statistical significance means more information must be collected to differentiate between chance and ability

Every major government in the world wants an advantage over other countries. This was a possible way to gain an advantage, but they wouldn't know unless they researched it. Imagine during the cold war if psi was able to be developed and the communists were able to take advantage of it before their enemies. I think experiments were conducted out of necessity rather than curiousity.

Allow me to take a short trip in Mr. Peabody's Wayback Machine and recall something that may have zero value to this thread. I recall that the Russians were making some pretty bold statements about telekinesis back then. Naturally, the US couldn't ignore their statements, so I will assume they needed to at least do a bit of research to either substantiate or debunk those Russian claims.

I started to read the pdf but wound up going to the source of this paper out of curiosity. I do believe that I now know exactly what happens when you don't have a healthy dose of skeptics hanging around sticking pins in the believers balloons. Of course I did not read all that much and I am probably off base making that statement but OMG! You name the CT, they got it over there.

As for the document, there's no way to verify it. As I said, I do recall some rumblings about the Russians and the US having at least a desire to investigate this sort of thing... but it was like back in the 60s not the 70s according to my memory.

If in fact either government was able to do anything with this, we'd never know. :D
