Re: New RegistrationsIf you don't have too many new registrations you can vett people by allowing them to provide proof that they are real by:
Giving a real name Giving the name of their facebook page or blog Articles they've written etc. If they're interested. It doesn't always work for people to do that though. I have a couple of fans of my blog that remain anonymous because they don't want to be searched, which might lead to trouble getting jobs or keeping the one they have because they're considered to be psychic fruit loops. A ship in harbor is safe, but that's not what ships are for.
Re: New RegistrationsNothing wrong with anonymity on a public forum. Just preventing links for new members will eliminate the vast majority of spammers.
Re: New RegistrationsWe have picked up some new 'lurker' members in the past two weeks. Welcome to the SCEPCOP forums.
Re: New RegistrationsI've never understood the voyeur thing
Re: New Registrations
You've done the big stage, so an itty bitty little forum message board isn't daunting to you. Others don't have the same interest or gumption to jump right into a chatting group of strangers discussing a rather controversial topic. At least that's how I see it.
Re: New RegistrationsWe have broken our old record: Most users ever online was 69 on Sat Nov 26, 2011 4:20 am. Considering the date and time, it must be some sort of glitch.
Re: New Registrations
Probably all the Turkeys we have for members
Re: New Registrationsi think that's good thing. Hopefully moderator can filter every people who join on this forum. Great!!
Re: New Registrations
There's a searchbot called the Baidu Spider bot which is quite a pest at the moment on forums, and eats up bandwidth like nothing else. There are sometimes 8 or more online at the same time. There were 24 on my own team's forum at one point until I had to ban their IPs - then they change the IP. OK if you are on Unlimited bandwidth, but a chinese Search bot isn't worth much in search results really.
Re: New RegistrationsTesting changes to the Newbie section. Dang! the link I posted still worked. Back to the drawing board.
Re: New RegistrationsWe broke our old record for......
Most users ever online was 89 on Fri Jun 22, 2012 4:57 pm We don't usually get many of the Baidu spiders at one time and right now we have a ton of 'real people' lurkers here. The numbers tend to go up when we get someone with personal experiences with the JREF Million Dollar Challenge or whatever it's properly called. I can't say why, but that's what happens.
Re: New RegistrationsSo lurkers! What's stopping you from joining up?
Re: New Registrations
It's just a theory but if they're JREF members keeping up to date with the latest JREF complaint, they're not about to sign up here to post. They just wanna lurk. Guests can read everything but they can't post.
Re: New RegistrationsAnother record!
Re: New RegistrationsPlease don't tell me they were all reading the canadian slavery thread!
