I have to wonder: if the existence of beautiful, talented, virtuous people prove the existence of a god, what does the existence of ugly, talentless & twisted people tell us about the nature of that god?

It would seem to indicate a capricious nature that enjoys blighting some people with no consideration for the comfort and happiness of his creations.

Not that I consider her the pinicle of creation, but if a god created ONJ, I give him an F-. He could have made the whole world like her. Instead he put us in a terrible, dangerous world, most of which is not habitable by us and then he filled it with crappy, hateful & dangerous people.

In the end though, it is to my thinking a bit ridiculous to look to a person's good qualities as being an argument for the existence of a god.

While ONJ is undeniably beautiful, talented, & gracious, she did not come right of the box like that. I am sure it took years of practice to achieve her level of singing skill. When you watch her sublime music video, remember that there was a a whole crew of people intently focused on making her appear as good as possible. Every aspect of those videos were intently scrutinized and directed towards the goal of presenting you with an angelic visage.

When you try to say that "god did it" you rob ONJ and the many people that worked very hard for her of the rightful credit for their efforts. Oh, and don't forget her parents. i am sure they had something to do with it.

Hmmm... God = Beauty?

Let's consider that the majority of the world's most dangerous animals, plants, etc. are all considered pretty/beautiful things. . .

Let's look at how soulless the "Pretty People" (a.k.a. the 1%) tend to be when it comes to their inhumanity and willingness to do more than a tokens worth of charity. . .

Look at the corruption within the Big Money "Pretty People" world (in other words, watch DALLAS, DYNASTY and all those other classics that launched today's "Bad Girl" and "Jersey Shore" ignorance). See how duplistic and cut-throat the world of Pretty & "Talented" is or just how everyone was shocked to find an amazing voice hiding in the body of some rather butt ugly individuals the past few years.

Personally I've found that the less carnally appealing sorts; the humble and meek that thrive in life without all the "stuff" and who aren't fixated on the veneer, are far more "godly" and "pure" than all the pretty people out there. I think you'll find that the primary teachers of the spiritual world actually taught that carnal beauty and status rarely (if ever) indicates a genuine connection with the divine. Jesus and to some extent Buddha both taught against a glorified clergy and grand temples, more or less promoting the "God" resides within us and has nothing to do with our "appearance"

My encouragement would to read and gain a better understanding of the Beatitudes (the opening verses leading to the famed Sermon of the Mount). That handful of verses will tell you more about what is "divine" in god's mind -- what it views as good and beautiful. Nowhere do you find a description of J-Lo or Brad Pitt, etc.

I so look forward to the day that human beings actually learn what their scriptures say vs. buying into what they are told to perceive and accept.
