Extending the number of posts visible in a thread

Yes thank you, I can access the 'Admin Panel'. I see that we are due for an update. If it's ok with you, I prefer not playing around in there unless I know exactly what I'm doing. The basics are simple so no problem there, and I see no reason to recreate the wheel without a reason. Everything looks okey dokey to me.

I just stopped by the php website, and it looks like they have a bunch of mods to do this stuff. A quick scan revealed this:

Not sure if there are others, but this seems to be the way to do it.

Of course I'm running it to find the truth - have you read the thread? Every input I've had has been geared towards that! Do you question the protocols I've suggested or the methods of stat collecting? Do you think the protocols we've been running have somehow been biased against G. Adam? We've tried to make them as objective as possible, using random number generators and random word generators. A real parapsychological test would have to have much tighter controls, but for an informal test over the internet, I think we've done pretty well at putting together something that is fair. If you see flaws in the protocol, please post them in the thread.

As for debunking: well, often good testing does lead to debunking. So far, with the small number of results we have, the trend certainly is in that direction. But like I said, its a small sample and I don't like to draw firm conclusions on such a small sample. But that's just how its been with a fairly objective protocol. G. Adam is dry running another protocol, and if his results are significant we'll try and replicate it the way we've been doing. If we can generate a big enough sample, we might be able to figure out if something interesting is going on. So far, the results haven't been too interesting.

So no, the goal is not to debunk, but that may be the result. It could go the other way, of course, but so far, no dice. In any event, I think you would agree that you can't call this in any way shape or form pseudo-skepticism.

Sorry for the delay. I just installed the mod you linked me to. Fortunately it was quick and easy.

You should now be able to set the number of posts per page within a topic by going to your User Control Panel and selecting the Edit Profile tab. You will see the appropriate field, which is set at 15 by default. I set it so that you can choose between 10 and 100 posts per page. The mod also featured a field where you can set the number of topic threads per page within a board category, so I enabled that too. The default value is 50. You can set it between 10 and 100 per page.

Try it out and let me know if it works ok. Go to User Control Panel and Edit your Profile in the Profile tab.

For now, I will leave the default value to 15 posts per page within a thread and 50 topics per page within a board category. So those who don't set any preferences will have those values by default.

Some minor suggestions though:

1) you may want to place this option in the Edit Display Options under Board Preferences rather than the Edit Profile section, will be easier for members to find since that's the section dealing with that

2) you might want to set it where there is a drop down of different options: Ie: 15, 50, 75, 100, or have a note saying they can choose up to 100 since its not clear.

Those are good suggestions, but remember, I am not the developer or programmer of the source code of this forum. I simply uploaded the templates from a package and sometimes make simple changes to the code as necessary or per instructions. I would not even begin to know how to implement such changes to the code that you suggest...
