End of Days--in May?

Postby ProfWag » 04 Jan 2011, 06:10

Scepcop said that some guy he follows says to "question everything." So, here it goes. This was on the yahoo.com headline page today:

Wow, we could only have 5 months to live. I need to get crackin' on my bucket list.

Hmmm... maybe that church needs to check their own TO DO list...

Restoration of Israel and Jerusalem Ok... let's give them this one...sort of; Jerusalem is still in limbo and much of the real estate there is actually controlled by various aspects of the Christian movement and followers of Islam -- (interesting, Muslims still serve as the landlords to the Church of the Nativity, but that's a few miles away. I mention it only because there's a similar "arrangement" associated with Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem between traditional Catholics, Protestants and the Eastern Orthodox)

Prophetic Signs That We Are Near The End (2000) -- NOT... there have been "signs" of the end times every decade... with every shooting star/comet and Eclipse (solar & lunar) since the latter days of Paul's ministry... after all, JC didn't show up within that generation, which was the first time he missed the appointment; fanatics still believe he'll show up though...

Rapture -- "It wasn't until the early or mid 1800's that there was any significant group of believers around the world that looked for a "rapture" of the Church prior to a seven-year tribulation period. It may come as a shock to some who read these lines, but it is a fact, nonetheless, that the "rapture" teaching was not taught by the early Church, it was not taught by Church of the first centuries, it was not taught by the Reformers, it was not taught by anyone (except a couple of Roman Catholic theologians) until about the year 1830. At the time of the Reformation, the early Protestants widely held and were convinced the Pope was the supreme individual embodiment and personification of the spirit of antichrist, and the Roman Church, the Harlot System of Revelation seventeen. This understanding was responsible for bringing millions of believers out of the Roman Catholic religious system. It therefore became expedient for certain Romish theologians to turn the attention of the people away from the Papacy, and this they endeavored to do by inventing a counter-interpretation to that held by the Protestants. This new scheme of prophetic interpretation became known as futurism. Rather than viewing the drama of the book of Revelation spiritually and historically, they would consign it all to a brief period of time at the end of the age. It was a Jesuit priest named Francisco Ribera who, in the days of the Reformation, first taught that all the events in the book of Revelation were to take place literally during the three and a half years reign of the antichrist way down at the end of the age. Thus, Ribera laid the foundation of a system of prophetic interpretation of which the secret rapture has now become an integral part.

See for the rest of the article

Seven-Year Period of Daniel -- While I believe this refers to the 7-years of global peace followed by 7-years of war (culminating at Armageddon) I can't track down the exact passages, what was very abundant is the 70 years of prophecy that has been applied to the birth and life of JC; this seems consistent.

Then there is this rather funny "guide" that explains the key prophecies of Daniel... scroll to the bottom and the dates for some kind of "Propagation"

:?: Why would "Christians" who claim to no long be obliged to the laws of the old testament, who classify it as the "Old Testament" and not what governs their lives... why would they be concerned with prophetic ideas that come from books found in that testament, such as Ezekiel & Daniel?

Donno... sounds like cherry pick'n to me

Great Tribulation Hey, Wiki says it best... The Tribulation is the name given to the event or events referred to in Matthew 24:21

("For then shall be great tribulation..." - King James Version) and other passages of the New Testament in the Holy Bible. In the Christian futurist view of Christian eschatology, the Tribulation is a relatively short period of time ("3 1/2 years", the second half of Daniels 70th week which is 7 years in total) where anyone who chose not to follow God before the Rapture and was left behind (according to Pre-Rapture Doctrine not Post or Mid Rapture teaching) will experience worldwide hardships, disasters, famine, war, pain and suffering, which will wipe out 75% of all life on the earth before part two of the Second Coming takes place.

In the Christian preterist view, the Tribulation took place in the past when Roman legions destroyed Jerusalem and its temple in AD 70 during the end stages of the First Jewish–Roman War, and it only affected the Jewish people rather than all mankind.

Sooo, either it has already happened or, like so many "End Day" prophecies, it's late! :o

Day Of The Lord First of all, this was a new term to me... at least, in how it is being used in this list as being "a sign"... the Day of the Lord indicates the Second Cumming of Christ which, according to this list I borrowed from a Church's web site about the End Days, it is not...

So we have issue 1 with this list of TO DO's when it goes with this prophecy

* Armageddon -- Hasn't Happened Yet
* Rebuilding of the Jerusalem Temple -- Matthew 24:15, II Thessalonians 2:4, and Revelation 11:1 [b]all explicitly state that the Jewish Temple will be rebuilt in these end-times. :!: NO TEMPLE FOLKS!"
* Second Coming And The Millennium -- Guess What... JC didn't show-up AGAIN!
* Great White Throne Judgment -- never hear it called a "Great White Throne" but hey, I'm not a Klan member...

so... I'd have to say that we're all safe!

Hi Profwag!

I was shocked after reading your post. Where did you get the information that is is already end of the world in May, and we only have several months left? If only you are ware of the bible, it was stated there that it is only God who knows what will happen. If it's the end of the world, none of us may determine when. Surely, this time may come, but we cannot predict when. You know, even Jesus don't know that he would die.

The author of this theory has already given himself a fac saving way out when he said this: ""If May 21 passes and I'm still here, that means I wasn't saved. Does that mean God's word is inaccurate or untrue? Not at all," Warden said."
