I can't find any updates about it, but last I heard, they pushed back the date of when the LHC would be switched on.
Has it finally been switched on yet? If so, did anything happen?

Has it finally been switched on yet? If so, did anything happen? “Devotion to the truth is the hallmark of morality; there is no greater, nobler, more heroic form of devotion than the act of a man who assumes the responsibility of thinking.” - Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged
Re: Has the Large Hadron Collider been switched on yet?I have no idea. I had to look it up and of course, the information was WAY over my head. Whatever they do, I hope they have thought to plug that thing into a surge protector.

Re: Has the Large Hadron Collider been switched on yet?I forgot to report that the LHC is up and running. Some initial collisions have been detected. It's a very exciting time indeed. We'll see if amazing events happen soon or if its the typical slow plodding manner of science that slowly ekes out new results.

Re: Has the Large Hadron Collider been switched on yet?The LHC is up and running and doing science. Yeah!
The whole LHC controversy reminds me of the John Deere problem. Way back when people were terrified that the new plow invented by that Satanic Deere fellow would poison the soil with its might iron blade. It was a fear back then and today we might laugh. I wonder if 100 years from now the people would laugh about the uproar on the LHC? Scimitars were not available - beware January 19, 2038 is upon us.
Re: Has the Large Hadron Collider been switched on yet?So what's the update on the LHC? What has it done so far? Any discoveries? Did it create any mini-black holes?
