Psi wheels are not as simple as they seem. They must be controlled for VERY carefully to try and rule out mundane causes: convection, static, air, vibrations.

The magician psi wheel trick is done with a magnet. That's obvious by the way it interacts with a magnetic field which the hand somehow provides.

You don't even need a magnet for the psi wheel. Works perfectly well without one. See the thread I linked to on skeptiko.

I saw the thread on skeptico, but didn't watch any of the videos. Was there anything specific about a magic trick for getting it to move without a magnet?

I am aware of another trick in addition to magnets. Often times you can put a bowl or something similar on a desk and it is not completely flat, leaving a tiny gap so that the magician can subtly blow under it.

It's not magic, from what we can tell it's convection without the bowl and static (or something similar) with the jar. But further testing is needed. You should watch the videos, interesting stuff. Especially when they wipe down the dryer sheets. It's not a trick, it's just physics! The later videos in the thread are from Skeptiko members.
