How Ironic ROFL

29 Aug 2009, 06:16

I recently read an article on the JREF Newsletter written by Jeff Wagg about how Gypsies are facing a Law to ban their Fortune Telling. http://www.randi.org/site/index.php/swi ... rtune.html

But isn't that what the MDC ''Million Dollar Challenge'' is all about? Saying that if you pass the Test then you will recieve a Million Dollars GUARANTEED in the Future?

So what about the Politicians who campaign saying that if one votes for them then they will provide Material Wealth for them and their families in the Future... Aren't the Politicians trying to sell their best Fortune Telling Deal over their opponents?

What about the Preachers in Churches who talk of Prophecy ? Isn't that about Prosperity Fortune Telling.

Why even the School Teachers are Fortune Telling when they tell their students if they ''study hard'' then they will reap the rewards of Prosperous Times.

Everything is based upon Fortune Telling in some way or another, Including the Prosperity Million Dollar Challenge

Hold on there HighFlyer... you're recap isn't all that accurate. Perhaps you need to re-read the posts from you link.

Jeff Wagg says that there are already Laws to combat fraud. The MDC is Fraudulent BIG TIME.

''Why? Well, you see... we already have laws to protect us against fortune telling. The crime is very specific: it's called fraud. Now we just need to get some law enforcement folks interested in prosecuting it''.-Jeff Wagg.

Excellent question Azrael.

I would also like to ask HF2, if he is saying that the MDC is the same as 'fortune telling?

Since ciscop would like to get back on topic here, allow me to point out a few flaws in highflyertoo's questions relating to his OP. Even after I suggested that HF2 re-read his own posted link to find these answers himself, he insists on going down that slippery slope of babble that once again makes no sense to anyone but HF2.

The link mentions ONE town in MD that is trying to pass a law against 'fortune telling' as a PAID business. ONE gentleman who claims to be of gypsy decent is fighting this, claiming it's his heritage and he has a right to continue this heritage. Are you with me so far highflyertoo?

Now I want you to listen very closely. THIS DOESN'T HAVE A FREAKING THING TO DO WITH MR. RANDI, THE MDC OR ANY OTHER BUSINESS OUTSIDE OF THAT ONE TOWN. It also doesn't say you can't do fortune telling for free. If you want to get paid for doing it, you must put out a disclaimer on your sign that says it's for ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY. Very similar to what the media does with printed astrological forcasts.

As far as your other babble about preachers, school teachers and politicians, it has NOTHING to do with ANY of that.

May I ask that you please refrain from tilting at windmills or at least READ YOUR OWN LINKS thoroughly BEFORE you put your fingers to your keyboard?

So how is ''fortune telling'' fraudulent ?

If a person tells someone's future and it doesn't come to pass, then how is that fraudulent?... Politicans and School Teachers give a ''reading'' of future matters. And when those things don't happen , do the Politicians recieve a scathing ? Nope , they get a pay rise.

You best prove that fortune telling is not real before answering with silly posts :D It's all about Proof. Prove the negative

I think The Professor takes pride in being the nuttiest person on any forum in which he participates. And he has seen that he can't compete with highflyer's rampant insanity.

Can you possibly clarify what you mean by that last sentence? Particularly, are you asking ME to prove that fortune telling is not real? Or do you want ME to prove to you that fortune telling IS real? If none of the above is directed at me, then I will consider myself lucky.

Do you have ''self proof'' of the paranormal existing? Yes or No.

Self Proof out weighs scientific proof. Am I sounding reasonable in my basic approach?
