Kevin still waiting for you to provide evidence that homeopathy is efficacious.

The count stands at 0 studies in support and 4 not showing homeopathy efficacious.

Carl never said billions and billions. It was Johnny Carson in a comedy sketch that did.

I'm a little late coming to this thread, but I'd like to ask you anyway to describe the method used to make a homeopathic medication. Would you do that ?

Recommendations
To Consumers

Be aware that homeopathic products and services are marketed in a "buyer beware" situation at present. Homeopathic products are not required to meet the standards of effectiveness of drugs. Homeopathic services are poorly regulated. Physicians who practice homeopathy operate below the standards of responsible medicine. Some have backgrounds that raise serious questions about their honesty. Be aware that in some states that have homeopathic licensing boards the "foxes are guarding the chicken coops." Consumers should not entrust their health to physicians or nonphysicians who practice homeopathy.

A legally troubled skeptic group (NCAHF) doesn't like homeopathy? No way!

Kevin you still haven't provided any evidence that homeopathy is efficacious. The score is still 0 to 4.

Homeopathy couple jailed over daughter's death

Postby Nostradamus » 02 Apr 2010, 19:57

From http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/sep/28/homeopathy-baby-death-couple-jailed

Johnson said there was a "wide chasm" between the couple's approach and the action a reasonable parent would have taken. Thomas Sam's "arrogant approach" to his preference for homeopathy and Manju Sam's deference to her husband led to their daughter's death, he said.

The only time the parents sought real medical attention was 3 days before their daughter died. By that time the baby's hair was white and her corneas had "started to melt".

It is therefore demonstrably true, even with simple high school level science, that the plausibility of homeopathy, for all practical purposes, and to the extent that it is possible to make such statements within the methodology of science – is zero.

It was brought to their attention by an organization called Sense About Science that homeopaths were pushing ineffective homeopathic treatments for malaria, TB, and HIV/AIDS. This forced the WHO to make the following clarifications (among others) regarding their position:

Dr Mukund Uplekar: TB Strategy and Health Systems, WHO: “WHO’s evidence-based guidelines on treatment of tuberculosis…have no place for homeopathic medicines.”

Dr Teguest Guerma, Director Ad Interim, HIV/AIDS Department, WHO: “The WHO Dept. of HIV/AIDS invests considerable human and financial resources […] to ensure access to evidence-based medical information and to clinically proven, efficacious, and safe treatment for HIV… Let me end by congratulating the young clinicians and researchers of Sense About Science for their efforts to ensure evidence-based approaches to treating and caring for people living with HIV.”

Dr Sergio Spinaci, Associate Director, Global Malaria Programme, WHO: “Thanks for the amazing documentation and for whistle blowing on this issue… The Global Malaria programme recommends that malaria is treated following the WHO Guidelines for the Treatment of Malaria”. (These guidelines do not include any use of homeopathy.)

So the WHO says homeopathy is ineffective for the treatments of TB, HIV/AIDS, and malaria.

The WHO has recently run up against homeopathy again, this time with respect to the H1N1 pandemic and vaccine. While the WHO is trying to stem a pandemic with a vaccination program, homeopaths seem to be doing everything they can to frustrate this public health measure.

Given the evidence and the state of the science, the only responsible position is to completely dismantle homeopathy and close the door on this pseudoscience once and for all.

From http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-451908/Homeopathy-worse-witchcraft--NHS-stop-paying-it.html

This article points out the dangers of homeopathic treatments.

Last year, a Newsnight programme revealed that young, eco-friendly backpackers are taking homeopathic prophylactics for malaria.

As a result, there is now an epidemic of malaria in people returning from the tropics.

The article also describes the dangers of insomnia, and constipation so-caleld remedies.

Twenty years ago, I was invited to advise the Blackie Foundation Trust, a charitable foundation for the advancement of homeopathy, on clinical trials. I helped them carry out a trial on the effect of arnica on bruising caused by a traumatic childbirth, versus a placebo.

At the end of the trial, the placebo came out better than the arnica. Strangely, the results were never published.

This is not a lone case - there have been countless trials of homeopathic remedies in which they are compared to a placebo, but if only one positive result in 100 emerges, that is the one cited. This is, in my opinion, intellectual bankruptcy.

Stop peddling placebos and turn the hospital into a centre for evidence-based, supportive care for people with life-threatening or terminal illnesses. A centre with psychologists, masseurs, counsellors, art and music therapists.

Unlike homeopathy, these therapies have been critically evaluated: they are proven to enhance well-being. And add a research centre so we can further this area of healthcare.

I'm still awaiting your description for how homeopathic medicines are made. What I'm hoping that once you actually understand that the belief of homeopathic practioners that the more dilute a homeopathic medicine is the stronger it becomes is absolute nonsense. However for some reason you seem to avoid this possibly troubling thought do to maybe it making you actually think thereby raising this house of cards you've built with an argument of uninformed opinion.
