Kardec and the spirits in sympathy with the sitters

Postby formosan » 20 Aug 2009, 17:23

Kardec wrote about how all living persons are in sympathy with some discarnate spirits.

A person who is altruistic and honest will naturally attract altruistic and honest spirits.

A person who is malicious and dishonest will naturally attract malicious and dishonest spirits.

If most sitters are motivated by personal love for a particular deceased or by scientific inquiry, I presume they tend to attract spirits motivated by largely the same sentiments.

My question, then, is - what are the good habits and what are the bad habits for psychic research?

What behaviors should be avoided and what should be encouraged?

My first thought is that dishonesty is the biggest danger to research, so researchers should cultivate scrupulous honesty.

My second thought is that Kardec suggested that selfless, disinterested service is very important, so that might be necessary.

What else might be important as a behavioral guideline?

very good post :D i have an attitude that those who use the subject ( paranormal research ) for their own ends , be this self aggrandisement - ego - financial or other rewards are doing it and themselves a great disservice - true researchers go about their work without thought of reward other than the gaining of knowledge ( the honest amateur )

there are way too many fake mediums, wannabe "experts " and BS merchants in this interest - to say nothing of wannabe demonologists etc which seems to be the latest fad in some counties and of course the supposed "stars " of the paranormal world the TV ghost hunters - and debunkers -

as to guide lines :

do your research

keep it honest

and if there's nothing there say so - don't make stuff up to look good

tell it like you have experienced with out fear or favor

and don't let the knockers dissuade you - for the truth remains the TRUTH - even if that truth is known only by one person !!

Honestly, I was quite surprised. I was expecting someone to speak up in favor of celibacy for its effects on spirituality.

This morning, Victor Zammit's afterlife report includes the following:
DOES LIFELONG CELIBACY INCREASE YOUR SPIRITUALITY? A very interesting and controversial question. My view is that celibacy is not only totally independent to spirituality but it is a great handicap to spirituality. Why? The sexual drive leads us to intimate relationships and family responsibilities through which we learn UNSELFISHNESS, patience, forgiveness and all the wonderful spiritual lessons that help us to raise our vibrations. The physical sexual drive is an extremely powerful primary drive - as is the drive to eat, drink, sleep. You deny the physical drive, for most people - priests or no priests - it will cause them to do crazy things.

It is interesting to note that many spirit communicators keep stressing the importance of love, love, and more love.

Personally, I don't know what to think.

life without love is a pretty barren sort of life don't you think ?? - i had great love from my late wife and i can still feel that love sometimes

i think that "love " can be defined in many ways - simple acts of kindness to man or animal are all good karma - and i believe WILL stand you in good stead eventually - where as acts of hate etc have the opposite effect - just a personal view of course - but one i subscribe to

OK we are ALL probably guilty of both at times - but what i think is important is the balance of these - none of us are perfect in any way - and no one expects us to be so ( even god if he /she exists) - but so long as YOU can live with the overall balance ................................ :?
