Pseudoskeptics do not follow the Scientific Method

Postby Scepcop » 19 Sep 2009, 13:07

At the end of the Scientific Method process, if the data doesn't fit the hypothesis, you are supposed to update the hypothesis to fit the data.

However, pseudoskeptics (the Randi/Shermer/CSICOP crowd) do the exact opposite. They REJECT all data that doesn't fit into the hypothesis they want, which in this case is "all paranormal claims are false" and like a religion to them. Therefore, they do the antithesis of the Scientific Method, which is ironic since they worship science.
“Devotion to the truth is the hallmark of morality; there is no greater, nobler, more heroic form of devotion than the act of a man who assumes the responsibility of thinking.” - Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged

I'm sorry to jump on the bandwagon here, but to me this is just illogical nonsense propaganda with no backup of evidence to support the claim.

I know these people are all quite arrogant in their approach and I certainly do not like their methods and tone allot of the time. But this do not make the "Believers" very unbiased in my opinion.

I think that you can do better... or is this just you making conversation.... :) ...I haven't been here so long so I don't want to put you off or anything, but I challenge you to do better!

For every person who reads this valuable book there are hundreds of naïve souls who would prefer to have their spines tingled by a sensational but worthless potboiler by some hack journalist of the paranormal. You who now read these sentences join a small but wiser minority. Martin Gaardner (Psychology of the Psychic)
