Where's a barf bag
The extreme to which the Global Warming/Climate Change thing has been taken is why I've distanced myself from "the cause" -- too much of it has become high drama and hype vs. down to earth reality. I'm all for Conservation and society taking responsibility for itself; our philosophy of wastefulness, abuse of nature, etc. all needs to be curbed. When it comes to alternative energy, YES! We need to pursue it and make it viable
on all levels and fronts. Not because the world is coming to the end or polar bears can't swim but because it is a logical evolutionary step for us to take when it comes to creating that enduring fantasy shared by all of humankind -- Utopia... a form of "Heaven" on earth or if you would, the kind of balanced society we see in the world of
Star Trek in which technology & nature work hand in hand.
THE PROBLEM is that too many politicians, old hippies and corporations have started using the terms "Global Warming" and "Climate Change" in much the way the word "Organic" has been abused over the past 25 years or so... an excuse to charge an additional 25-50% more for something that, in many instances, costs less to produce. Thus, those of us that wish to live "responsibly" frequently can't afford to do so as the result of the greed factor... the same lie exploited by the pharmaceutical industry being set conveniently in place to obfuscate this truth; blame of price being placed on research & development expenses... the greed of investors rarely weighed.
I loathe extremism of all forms but especially when it starts infecting society in ways such as this. I really hope those that helped pass this law get a pink slip. It's an abuse of power.
