Dawkins Proven WRONG every day of his "scientific" life.

Postby stevetrueblue » 02 Apr 2010, 12:36

A recent article in New Scientist demolishes Darwins theory as the greatest blunder in groupthink for 150yrs.

Professor Woese leading evolutionary scientist explains the 150yrs of false groupthink as "complacency"
Too kind a word, I think.

Darwins theory that small changes in breeding piegeons given enough time could produce all lifeforms is proven utterly false by Professor Woese in New Scientist. This is the very line used by Dawkins in all of his scientific life justifiyng his tirades against the unbeliever, and his attacks on religions. Dawkins life has been a tragic utter waste not to mention his misleading destructive influence on millions of people with his pseudoscience.
After Hitchins and Randi "came out" recently, we might expect Dawkins to confess to being a married gay, the reason for his irrational lifelong rancour, toward an "intolerant society" that he thinks needs to be punished. The bible most of all. This could be the death of militant atheism.

Darwins theory that small changes in breeding piegeons[sic] given enough time could produce all lifeforms

This is a nonsense claim that does not describe evolution.

The rest of your comments do not follow from the article. You purposely misrepresent the article. The conclusions you draw have nothing whatsoever to do with the material provided.

Did you post this lie to support your belief in the bible?

I think a 5th grader could have understood the article. There are some good students in our school system.

What's interesting is the join date and the dates of the user's posts:

Is there a problem with the reported join date?

He's been around since that date.

We have a lot of 'lurkers' who like to read the topics. Not everyone posts.

Secondly, you guys need to lighten up on your responses.

Welcome lurker. To lighten up the response let me put it this way, no where does it say in evolution that the following is true:
1. Any species purposes evolves in any direction
2. Any species will evolve
3. Any species can involve in any direction

So to claim that Darwinism claims that any species can evolve to all other lifeforms is untrue. Another important issue is that Darwinism explains the diversity of life. The existence of DNA and the manner in which genes change was not known at the time of Darwin. So to say that learning that the manner in which genetic material is altered is more complicated than thought does not affect Darwinism.

Woese says that there are other mechanisms for evolution to take place. He does not say that evolution does not happen. In fact, Woese says that there is another potential mechanism at work that may apply to more complex organisms than single cells creatures.

Science has the ability to change as new information is discovered. Religion cannot. The bible is a fixed work that does not reflect the world around us. When science needs to be altered it is according to the best evidence available.

The remainder of the post about homophobia is irrelevant. The death of atheism? No. Evolution is a fact. Darwinism is a theory to explain the observed fact. Evolution is a fact external to religious thinking. It is a natural fact, not a supernatural fact. Thus claims of supporting religion or god are unfounded.

From Wikipedia entry on Woese we learn
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Woese
Prior to Woese, Archaea were thought to be extreme organisms that had evolved from the organisms that are more familiar to us. Many scientists now believe they are ancient, and may have robust evolutionary connections to the first organisms to live on Earth.

His work is not a repudiation of evolution, rather it is a clarification or if you want to call it a correction. On the other hand I do not see that identifying evolution as a natural process has anything to do with proving or disproving supernatural issues. They are distinct from natural issues.

From a NASA article http://astrobiology.nasa.gov/articles/carl-woese-and-new-perspectives-on-evolution/

As a practical matter, the prokaryotes and eukaryotes could usually be distinguished by laboratory staining techniques, since their cell walls have a different chemical structure.

From this perspective, scientists wanted to find a classification of life based on genetic sequences rather than on external appearances — hence a molecular taxonomy.

Contrary to the ideas of conventional biology, life did not lie quiescent on Earth for the three billion years that preceded the burst of evolution that constitutes the “Cambrian explosion” 600 million years ago. The great physiological diversity we associate with plants and animals represents a rather small change as measured by these RNA sequences. In fact, the three kingdoms of plants, animals, and fungi are confined to a few outlying twigs in the much greater tree of microbial life.

A look at the new tree of life should also caution us against calling any of these microbes “primitive.” All of the species alive today have followed a long evolutionary trajectory from their early common ancestors.

Again here we see that Woese's work was a redefinition of life on earth based on newer methods of probing the inner workings of organisms and to identifying the origins of life based on the internal machinery of the cells instead of their structure.

This demonstrated that the development of new life forms see in the Cambrian explosion is just one facet of an exciting story of the development of life on earth - the fact that we call evolution.

Sorry for my testy first post stevetrueblue. The following caused my initial response.
This could be the death of militant atheism.

Do you believe that all atheists are militant?

No, but it's quite obvious that Secular Humanists essentially want EVERYONE to be Secular Humanists.

SIXTH: We are convinced that the time has passed for theism, deism, modernism, and the several varieties of "new thought".

Everyone else is wrong.

TENTH: It follows that there will be no uniquely religious emotions and attitudes of the kind hitherto associated with belief in the supernatural.

Get rid of supernatural religion of all sort.
FOURTEENTH: The humanists are firmly convinced that existing acquisitive and profit-motivated society has shown itself to be inadequate and that a radical change in methods, controls, and motives must be instituted. A socialized and cooperative economic order must be established to the end that the equitable distribution of the means of life be possible. The goal of humanism is a free and universal society in which people voluntarily and intelligently cooperate for the common good. Humanists demand a shared life in a shared world.

What's good for Secular Humanism must be good for everyone.

Secular Humanism is not compatible with spiritual diversity. Therefore, anyone who believes they benefit from spirituality, would lose life experience (which is against the Manifesto #12) by converting to a Secular Humanist mindset.

http://www.americanhumanist.org/who_we_are/about_humanism/Humanist_Manifesto_I

I find the whole exercise rather pointless, because basically, in the opinion of the world's leading Secular Humanists, Dawkins, Randi, Crick, Kurtz, Shermer, and many prominent figure in the sciences, there is no such thing as free will, all actions are dictated by environment and variables that occur, the universe just happened by accident, and there is absolutely no point to anything. Honestly, what the Manifesto is is essentially Terror Management, e.g. a way of rationalizing away how F@cking bleak and pointless the world is, so it stings less. It's really a miserable existence, but if they are correct, and it is all we have, then I suppose their method would be the best way of dealing with all that.

But I believe there is more to life than that.
Hey, you there. Yes, you. Read more journal articles.

Let's make directional hypotheses, test them repeatedly, replicate experiments, and publish results! Yay, science!
