Would the home page look better if it were like this?

Hi all,
Check out what Purplescissors put together as a new design for the home page! Looks nifty huh? What do you think? Would the home page look better if it were like this?

Note: Use the up/down, left/right scroll bars to see the whole image.

That's quite nice but it's stark with the black and white. I like the color.

Latest topics box at the top of the home page

Postby Scepcop » 24 Aug 2010, 03:38

I just put the latest forum topics box at the top of the home page, set it to show 15 latest topics, and rearranged a few other things too. So now you can see the latest 15 topics in this forum, at the top of the home page.

Does the new arrangement look better?

I like it... I just wish there was some way of making things look less "cluttered'... that's the only way I can describe things; the page is very busy and needs to be tames a bit. I'll try to find some time over the next few days to generate some ideas for you to consider... my only focus being to make the "entrance" to the site "cleaner" and initial navigation 'easier"... if that's alright with you.

Do you mean there are too many things too close together and not enough space in between each section? Would more spacing between the sections and boxes help?

I have a question!!!
After looking at the home page, I noticed that your "Committee" includes such people as Brian Josephson, John Benneth, and Victor Zammit. I did a search on all of their posts and it appears that they total.....drum roll....one (1). Between all of them.
I have over 2,000 posts. Now, I realize that many of my posts are not very, shall we say, scientific. However, it appears that I am at least contributing to your Forum, more so than those listed on your home page. So, the question I have is...why have I not been asked to be a part of your "Committee" Scepcop?

Hmmm. I guess for the same reason Randi doesn't ask me to be part of his committee. lol

Maybe if you would change the side you're on...

Anyhow, Benneth has more than one post here. And Zammit has a few too. I hope they'll contribute more too. I guess they are busy on their own projects.

Most of the people on the committee have done some work or writing in parapsychology, or I know them personally. If you did too, I'd consider you for the committee. :)

Which side I'm on? What the hell does that mean? There are no "sides" in science. This statement appears to show you have zero interest in finding the truth about anything. Sorry, just calling it as I see it.

Stop playing games. Everyone knows you are on the anti-paranormal side. Doesn't matter what you claim. Your statements and actions define you as such. Actions define a man. Not words.

I've moved the latest topics box on the home page over to the right column just under "News and Updates" and put my new ebook titles at the top instead.

Hi, Benneth here. Got back from London October 2nd after lecturing at Hahnemann College of Homeopathy, at the invite of Dr. Shashi SHarma, and the Cavendish Labs at Cambridge, at the invite of Prof. Brian Josephson. The title of the talk was "BEYOND THE MOLECULE: Supramolecular Chemistry and the Homeopathic Remedy."
We also had a chance to visit with Uri Geller at his home, where he bent a spoon for us right under noses, and gave it to my son.
It's hard to say what the highpoint of the trip was, it was all defintely beyond the molecule of materialist thinking . . .

Wow John you are fortunate to be able to see Uri Geller perform in person. Did he use his own spoon or yours?

The thing I don't get is, can he only bend spoons that he brings, or can he bend yours too? When Randi trapped him on the Carson Show, he said he made sure that Geller had no access to the spoons before the show. But if it's that easy to stump Geller, then someone can just bring their own spoon to stump him, right? Am I missing something?

What did Randi do on the Carson Show that scientists couldn't do?
