Scientific Status Quo

Postby really? » 29 Nov 2012, 12:51

I have had heard on numerous occasions the lamentations from the believers in the paranormal and supernatural that scientists uphold the status quo. Those of us that understand what scientists do know that's not true. While checking out one of my favorite sites I come to find this article that illustrates the point:
New experiments challenge fundamental understanding of electromagnetism
The theory in question is known as quantum electrodynamics, or QED, which physicists have held in high regard for decades because of its excellent track record describing electromagnetism's effects on matter. In particular, QED has been especially useful in explaining the behavior of electrons, which orbit every atomic nucleus. But for all of QED's successes, there are reasons to believe that QED may not provide a complete picture of reality, so scientists have looked for opportunities to test it to ever-increasing precision.

Scientists always challenge or look for new ways to test current theories.

Fine. But most pseudosceps like yourself are not true scientists, nor is Randi or most of his fellow travellers. They are mostly just closed-minded, opinionated gits (or material denialists) who are not interested in investigating any phenomenon, particularly. They instead slavishly follow the 'authority' of science rather than the method of science and make that their benchmark. Hence a pseudoscep can never discover anything new, they leave that up to other people to work out.

Scientists always challenge or look for new ways to test current theories.

Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. It depends what discipline they are working in, and for whom, whether they are being corrupted by economics or expediency, etc. What you have stated is a philosophical ideal, not an actual reality.

Wow, you know it all. It would be something if your kind would be as insightful about yourselves as you believe yourselves to be about others. But I have the feeling that's as unlikely.
