Reincarnation story with compelling clincher at the end!

Postby Scepcop » 04 Mar 2010, 10:40

Check out this story of a man who remembers his past life as a Civil War Colonel. At the end is a stunning clincher that makes the case very compelling! Wow!

“Devotion to the truth is the hallmark of morality; there is no greater, nobler, more heroic form of devotion than the act of a man who assumes the responsibility of thinking.” - Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged

I remember this case. He wrote a book about it, called "Someone Else's Yesterday".

It's kind of interesting. I would like to point out that the position of troops changes throughout a battle. To place someone at a specific point is also point to only one of many positions where the troops were throughout a long day of battle. The battle maps shown at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Antietam illustrate the movement of the troops across the field of battle. The fighting was north of the road and then drops south to the road and then moves onward.

So the General was shot 5 times during the battle of Antietam and survived. That's amazing especially since he was also hit in the face and a small artery was cut.

He was also injured in another Civil War fight.

The wiki article also states that he was believed to be the head of the Georgia KKK. Was this trait passed on as well?

A little effort turned up this blog:

It discusses issues related to the broad concept of reincarnation and the documentation of these events.

So this guy, based on a feeling at a Civil War battlefield and a psychic reading which, even from the account, seemed to be nothing but cold reading, believes that he is the reincarnation of a Civil War soldier. And he subsequently went looking for stuff to confirm this belief, taking tiny coincidences and a slight resemblance as evidence. Later, he adds in memories based on his knowledge of the war.
This is compelling why?

Oh, also, the "clincher" isn't much of one. Gordon was wounded while he was of thirty years of age, but not on his birthday. Was Keane hurt on the anniversary of Gordon's wounding? No. Did the doctors find out what caused his jaw pain? They didn't say. Fairly obvious admission of important information there.
Weave a circle 'round him thrice,
And close your eyes with holy dread,
For he on honey-dew hath fed,
And drunk the milk of Paradise.

Yep, that's my article.

LOL. Who said past lives are sin-free and all-glorious? Racism was commonplace in those days. As were many other forms of political incorrectness and prejudices. Even my grandparents grew up with racism drilled into their heads, and still say things of a racist nature that shock and appall me, whereas I was taught differently and I grew up with many friends of different races.

I read the Wiki article on the Civil War guy and some other entries. It said the guy almost drowned in his cap from the blood pouring out of his head.

Ghost stories at SRAC

Trice said he and a group of police officers and attorneys had been going to Gettysburg on weekends for around 14 years to look for paranormal activity. Trice said Gettysburg has been called "the most haunted real estate in America," and shared some of the more famous Gettysburg ghost stories with the crowd.
