Penghu temples construct giant turtles

Haven't seen this before.
Two 9,600kg “turtles” — one made of more than 15,000 packs of handmade noodles and another made of bags of rice — will be inaugurated on Friday on Penghu in conjunction with a series of celebrations to mark Lantern Festival on Sunday.

Turtles are believed to bring good luck because of their longevity.

Those who wish to take a turtle figurine home for luck may do so if they receive permission from the temple deity by throwing divination blocks.

Bolding is mine.

Penghu residents don’t just bring back a slightly larger turtle figurine; they like to bring back one that is hundreds or thousands times bigger.
Scimitars were not available - beware January 19, 2038 is upon us.

A lantern festival full of interesting and wonderful things? Sounds delightful. Probably more enjoyable than watching reruns of Carl Sagan's Cosmos series.

What is it with you? Why do you feel the need to come into completely innocent threads and attempt to start a flame war?
Weave a circle 'round him thrice,
And close your eyes with holy dread,
For he on honey-dew hath fed,
And drunk the milk of Paradise.

How so? Please elaborate.

1. Positive statements about a traditional folk festival.
2. Fun rebuke of a skeptic kook, consistent with theme of forum.
3. Statement of free speech and opinion, recognized universally as a right.

On topic.

Off topic, and very, very obviously meant to antagonize Nostradamus.
