Marsh, a fisherman in Lower Lance Cove, Trinity Bay, for nearly 60 years, says he's never seen anything like the animal found caught in his son and nephew's caplin traps last summer.

Having been there I know that caplin are small fish that come into shore. The whales follow them in and that leads to excellent whale watches when the caplin are in.

I fond this quite interesting because Newfoundlanders are pretty practical people. I am not that surprised that the discovery to publication date is far apart. It fits with my recollection of the time I've spent there.

What I liked about the article was its careful and direct statement made by the fisherman plus a list of facts about other sightings and issues that can make even a seasonal seaman confused about they saw. I thought it was a well written article.
